JUMO
JUMO, a long-standing German company, is the world market leader in the field of industrial temperature sensors. Its high degree of innovation, above-average vertical integration and comprehensive product range make its products a compelling choice. Today, the family-owned and operated company employs over 2,400 people at almost 60 locations and 25 subsidiaries worldwide. As part of the new compact controller and display series, we supported JUMO in product design and by optimizing user-friendliness.
Task
Assist JUMO in revising the product design of a new series of controllers and indicators - thus also creating the basis for the new design of all future JUMO products. Additionally, developing a uniform system for the associated product names.
Solution
A clear, modern and tidy design that allows easy and intuitive operation via four buttons. We have also optimised the display of the numbers for perfect legibility and added a plain text display. Together with JUMO‘s product development, we were able to significantly increase user-friendliness and transfer these advantages to the various housing sizes.

Naming development
diraTRON und diraVIEW – the names of the new controllers and indicators. The syllables TRON (elecTRONic) and VIEW have been JUMO‘s classic designations for electronic compact controllers and indicators for many years. The prefix dira, on the other hand, is inspired by “Dirac” (Paul Dirac, British physicist and Nobel Prize winner - from which the “Dirac impulse” is derived, and is also used in control engineering). dira, however, is also reminiscent of “direct” and “digital” - both properties that can be easily associated with the compact controller.
The previous product design and naming conventions of the JUMO product range illustrated a diverse offering that had evolved over the years.
The new product designs and naming convention for the diraTRON controller series deliver an enhanced look with user-friendly features.
